December 23rd, 2009

I spent last night baking pies & made up cookie tins for everyone. I got up at 7am today, to start the Turkey. The ham is in the oven, the turkey is in the roaster, and all of the sides are complete. I just got back from the Dr’s Office. I’m still about 2-3cm and 60% effaced. She said, “you could go another 2 weeks like this.” I asked if I was leaking ambiotic fluid, she said, “no you just pissed yourself!”  JOY!

The kids are excited & ready to open presents, but first we’re going to eat!  I made Turkey, Ham, Stuffing, Sweet Potatoes, Squash, Corn, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls, Green Bean Cassorole, Pumpkin Pies, Dutch Apple Pie, Magic Bars, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Peanut Butter cookies, Brownies, Christmas Decorated Cookies, and Cupcakes.

Time to go open gifts! :) I wish our baby was here to enjoy it!!

December 22nd, 2009

We’re celebrating our Christmas tomorrow, going to have the entire family over for dinner & to open gifts, just in case I go into labor on Christmas. I was just down in the basement, sweeping, and when I squated down to use the dust pan, I felt a lil *POP* sensation & my pants got wet.  I called the Dr. and she said, I probably just “pissed myself” since I’m not having contractions and there wasn’t much. I have an appointment tomorrow. So we will have to wait and see.

38 Weeks tomorrow!!

I had my weekly appointment today.  This morning I went and had my annual eye exam, so that I can order another year of contacts & get a pair of glasses. It’s been about 10 yrs since I’ve owned a pair of glasses.  I’m thinking ahead, this way, when I get up at 3am I can put my glasses on, instead of fumbling around in the dark, half blind.  Then, when I wake up in the morning and I’m too tired to put my contacts in, I can slap the glasses on, and be able to see.  THEN, when the baby takes a nap, so can I, without having contacts in!!! :)

This morning I was a little stuffy, so I took a sudefed. When I got to my OB appointment, my blood pressure was a little elevated, 142/84.  I wasn’t concerned because whenever I take Allegra-D or Sudefed 12 hr, it goes up a little.  My OB wasn’t convinced it was the Ephedra and since I’ve been retaining some fluid in my hands, feet, face, legs, arms, etc. she wanted to send me over to the Maternity Floor to have a Non-Stress Test, Bloodwork, & would have to collect a 24 hr Urine specimen.  My random urine sample in the office was negative for protein, but a 24 hr urine collection would be the best way to see if I’m dumping protein into my urine.

While I was in the office, she measured my belly, we’re right on schedule.  I’m still 2cm dialated, only about 25% effaced.  Cervix is still thick & baby is still a little on the high side.  She estimates he’s about 7 lbs now, probably 20-22″ long, and will probably be about 7.5 lbs by the time he gets to term.

Sooooo… the non-stress test was fine, my blood pressure dropped down into the normal range within a few mins of sitting there.  The babies HR was good, he was extremely active, bouncing off the walls, moving out from under the monitors, and I had to keep moving them around my stomach, to stay above him.  I’m going to be peeing in a hat & dumping it into my jug until tomorrow at 4pm….. JOY!

The Nursery is finally FINISHED!!!  It was a major project, from start to finish, top to bottom, its all brand new!  New ceiling, new walls, new insulation, new pad & carpet, new door, new closet, and all new trim/molding.

The rocking chair, changing table, and crib are all put together. The beddings washed and the decorations are on the walls!  Yah!!!  It looks really cute, I’m so excited, I can’t wait til he arrives!!

37 Weeks Today!!

Statistically, my baby is full-term! Which means that if my baby arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though my due date is still three weeks away. He should weigh about 6 1/3 pounds and measure  a bit over 19 inches, from head to heel. Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long.

I’m feeling pretty good, had my Dr’s Appointment yesterday. My cervix is still pretty high & thick, but I’m 2cm dialated and she could feel his head in position.  My Group B Strep test came back Negative, so I won’t need IV antibiotics during delivery!! My latest Glucose tolerance test was normal (AGAIN!!!) so I can continue to test, just once a day, in the AM.

So far, so good.  I’m just counting the days now! 21 days to go!! :)

36 Weeks Pregnant Today!!

I’m getting bigger by the day, my hands & feet are very swollen.  The girls at work are referring to me as, “Christina with cankles” as a way to distinguish which Christina they are talking to or referring to!  So…. NOT FUNNY!! lol

How your baby’s growing:

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He’s shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of his first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I have so much to be thankful for this year!! :) In just 29 more days I’ll be able to hold my miracle man!  I can’t wait to hold him, kiss his lil fists, his lil nose, and his lil ears.  I can’t wait to rub my fingers over his lil lips, cheeks, fingers, toes, and hair.

We had dinner this past Sunday at my house because I have to work today, but mom also made dinner today, so I got to eat several Thanksgiving dinners this year! Definitely, not complaining, turkey gravy, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and biscuits are my favorite’s!!

At this point, we have his room all put together, I washed his bedding and made his bed.  His room is so cute! Daddy just has to finish hanging his closet doors!  :)   I can’t wait til Christmas! :)

35 Weeks Pregnant tomorrow.

How your baby’s growing:

Your baby doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that he’s over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds

I had my doctors appointment today, had my Group B Strep test done, she also checked my Cervix to see whats going on.  I’m starting to Efface & dilate, losing some cervical mucous already.  My doctor would usually wait another 2 weeks before doing the Group B test and the first exam, but since I’m having cervical discharge, she wanted to check me now, rather than later.

I also had to drink that nasty orange glucose crap! She had me repeat the Glucose Challange to make sure I haven’t become more Insulin Resistant in the past few weeks, since the last test. She still wants me to test my sugar once a day, early in the am, before my first meal.

I go back in 2 weeks for my next visit, then I go weekly, til delivery.

32 Weeks Pregnant Today!!

Only 8 weeks to go, I’m hoping that he comes a few days early, because I don’t really want to be in the hospital on Christmas Day!! :( I want to be home with my lil man, opening presents with my family and eating lots of YUMMY food!! Not that the hospitals food isn’t ‘yummy’ but I eat it 4 days out of the week, I really don’t want to eat it on Christmas!!!

So, according to statistics, my lil man, Brody Mitchell, weighs about 3.75 lbs and is about 16.5 inches long at this point. He’s kicking the crap out of me, day & night, and I can feel his lil feet kicking one side of the stomach near my ribs, while theres a hard area against the other side, and what feels like lil ants crawling down near my pelvis. I can only picture that his feet are kicking me on the left, his head is on the right (laying sideways) and those lil fingers of his are scratching and grabbing at the base of my uterus! Its the weirdest sensation, tickles and startles you, cause its like, “WOAH, What the hell was that? Stop!! I’m going to piss myself!” lol

I’m getting extremely excited, only 56 more days (7 weeks and 6 days) until he’s due! His room is almost complete. My mom and I went and picked out new carpet & pad today. Its a light sand color, really thick and soft!! The closet is finished, finally. We just need to put a 2nd coat of paint on the walls, and put the new doors on, crown molding around the top of the room, baseboard around the bottom after the carpet is in, and the new trim around the windows and the closet.

I’m hoping that it will be ready to decorate and fill with furniture by next weekend. Then it can air out a week or so, and I’ll put the bedding and clothing away! :)

I couldn’t love the lil guy anymore than I already do… I’m sure I will, but for someone whom I haven’t even held yet, I couldn’t adore him more!

Baby Shower Gift Cards!

I got several gift cards at my shower: Diana (my boss), Darcy (Dietician), Suzanne (DDSO) & Duane (My Baby’s Daddy!) and I was able to buy the High Chair & the Diaper Bag, with the gift cards.

I ordered them online and both came today! I just love them!! My 3 yr old neice, Mercede, loves the Diaper bag! She carried it around for hrs, saying, “I’m going to change you baby now, he pooped!” I told her, “You can help change him when he comes, but he’s not here yet.” She said, “yeah, I know, hes gonna be born at Christmas!” :) She’s so darn cute!!

I love the Diaper bag, it came with a changing pad, a smaller bag, and a diaper wipe travel container.
